Module 11: Curriculum reflecting community

An SECD self-study professional development (SSPD) module.

Theme: In the spirit of reconciliation, curriculum should be done with, rather than to, children. It should also involve families and the community.

Early childhood curriculum – what children experience in early childhood programs – is co-constructed. It is created with children and educators while being driven by families and community. Traditional Indigenous pedagogy uses this type of approach, includes Elders, and can have lasting impacts on children, educators, families, and the community.
